We are facing some serious times. Our minds can’t stop thinking about the friends and families of those who are affected by the virus. We all are concerned about this situation and we all think at least twice about any action that might affect either us or others.

True that the world has seen even more horrific times, but we need to overcome this coronavirus pandemic with as little losses as possible. The fact that we can’t stop all of our daily activities despite the risk of getting or spreading the deadly and highly contagious virus begs the simple question: How can we effectively prevent ourselves from this? Thankfully, there are simple steps that you can take to help prevent contracting the virus that I am sure you already are familiar with from the Media, therefore I’m not going to mention them in this article.

Some activities don’t require exiting your home, but we all need to go out at a certain point for whatever physical or psychological reason you may think of. And sometimes you may need to drive a car for that. Whether it is work or leisure that’s got you outside your place and using car rentals, there are a few things you should consider  that will help significantly reduce the probability of contracting the COVID-19 virus. That is what we are talking about – protecting yourself and others, especially if it is with car rentals.

So how do you effectively deal with this threat? Here are some Q&A to read along about this very important question.

  1. What is the coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are families of viruses that cause ailments ranging from light cases of the common cold to critical diseases such as the once-famous Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). The virus we are battling with right now is referred to as the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) that has previously not been identified in humans. Although different viruses cause certain ailments, persons with cold, flu and other viruses show similar symptoms such as slight fever, sore throat, a cough, and running nose. In rare cases, severe illnesses such as pneumonia, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulty may occur. The main issue, in my opinion, is that is highly contagious and it requires special and elaborate testing to identify.

  1. How is the coronavirus transmitted?

COVID-19 is transmitted primarily through contact with an infected person. That’s why you have to be extra careful in your contact with people. Especially in places where the highest effects of the outbreak are felt – a place like Northern Italy, for instance.

  1. Is your RENTAL CAR disinfected?

99.9% surely is. Whatever car rental company that you decide to use this season, the company stuff more likely used a wide range of disinfectants to clear the germs on the surfaces and in the air of the interior of the car. A germ fogger is a useful tool that can be used to help eliminate the germs in the car. When you use this tool you can rest assured that the probability of contracting the virus is greatly diminished. When you want to rent a car from a car rental company, make sure that they are eager to take precautionary steps towards disinfecting the rental car. This shows that the car rental company cares about the health of its clients (and employees as well) which is something that everybody will appreciate greatly.

  1. Is your rental car 100% Coronavirus free?

The truth is that is not. Whatever you do, you just can’t disinfect 100% of the car interior, so it’s up to you taking your chances or not. Either you or a stuff member can most likely touch a multiple numbers of places – door handles, gas pumps, paper money, table surfaces, even a simple pen and the list is endless. Each one of those surfaces is a potential source of contamination.

You must understand that the responsibility lies primarily with you than it does with the car rental business.
